Dinner With Wes and Daniel

Hi peeps!

So last night we had one of Craig's brothers over for dinner; Wesley was joined by our very talented writer friend, Daniel. They ordered Bacon Carbonara for dinner and with the combined effort of my two girls, this is how our recipe went:

Bacon Carbonara

Ingredients:
Linguine
Oil
Garlic
Onion
1 can whole tomatoes
250ml cream
1kg bacon bits
Salt
Pepper
Saffron
Sweet basil
Mozarella
White cheddar
Sugar
For the bread:
A whole loaf freshly baked white bread
Crushed garlic
Salted butter
Yellow cheddar
Paprika

Method:
Boil salted water and cook your linguine till el dente.
In a pot; heat oil, garlic and a whole chopped medium onion. Add the bacon bits and fry.
Add your spices and fry.
Add the can of tomatoes and two teaspoons of sugar. Simmer on medium heat for ten minutes stirring occasionally.
Add in the grated cup of mozarella and the grated cup of white cheddar.
Simmer for 5 minutes.
Add in the cream.
Toss through the linguine and serve hot.

For the bread:
Cut in really thick slices; mash together a generous amount of crushed garlic and salted butter together and spread over the bread. Grate over the cheddar cheese and sprinkle with paprika. Bake on a cookie sheet in a pre heated oven on 180C and then turn on to grill till cheese is crackly. Serve with a salad and with the pasta.
